The Cooperativa d’Artesa de Segre, finalist in the awards for Technological Innovation in the agricultural business category, has presented a project to recover ancient, sustainable crops on the land. This initiative aims to ensure the viability of agriculture in the region and prevent depopulation in rural areas.

A commitment to the revaluation and recovery of ancient, sustainable, and resilient crops to contribute to the viability of agriculture in the area and combat rural depopulation. This is the project with which the Cooperativa d’Artesa de Segre has been named a finalist in the 2023 PITA and Ruralapps awards, in the agricultural business category. For the company from La Noguera, this recognition serves as an incentive to continue working in this direction.

Specifically, the project focuses on crops such as Florence Aurora cereals, Spelt, and Egyptian Wheat, as well as legumes like Pardina lentils and Alta Segarra chickpeas.

Through the production of these crops, the Cooperativa d’Artesa is also exploring food solutions to address both existing food intolerances and the growing demand for vegetarian or vegan products.
